More so than the usual monsters, the main quest here focuses the fighting on tribal savages, Nakayama's followers who share his. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage nailed the comedy, Big Game Hunt feels like a step back. Sir Hammerlock gets similar treatment, with repeated attempts to squeeze laughs out of how much of a gentleman he is, and to little effect. Enter Professor Nakayama, a one-dimensional new villain whose only discernible trait is that he's obsessed with the late Handsome Jack, a trait hammered home ad nauseum from start to finish with tepid writing that falls well short of the Borderlands norm. Sadly, what it turns out to be is a short, uninspired quest line to take down yet another self-proclaimed evil genius. Sir Hammerlock, the bionic-armed gentleman hunter from the main campaign, has invited you out to his cabin in the savage lands of Aegrus for a quiet weekend of hunting and hijinks – you know, like tracking and fighting tons of huge, unique monsters for loot, honor, and the Borderlands way. That would of been a Legendary battle.Īll in all, a very fun DLC that is a must have.The setup for Big Game Hunt brims with opportunity. Professor Nakayama is obsessed with bringing back Handsome Jack by using his DNA and that is where our story begins… saving Pandora all over again. Some new beasties to play with.Īs you are out and about minding your own business hunting down some of the fiercest creatures Pandora can muster you are rudely interrupted by Professor Nakayama: a scientist who greatly admired Handsome Jack, and isn’t too keen on the Vault Hunter for killing Handsome Jack. With this DLC comes five new areas to explore, each beautifully created in a nice rocky Amazonian getaway theme with its own swamp region, remnant structures of the Dhal corporation also make an appearance here with a few other industrial structures that can be explored.Ī few new creatures and enemy types will be encountered such as the Savages that call the continent Aegrus their own, these Savages are either spear and shield wielding, or gun wielding types along with their witch doctor that comes in a variety of types ,all hell bent on killing you, on the monster side of things Bullymongs rocky cousins can be encountered here along with Drifters, an enemy you might recall from Borderlands: The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, then a few new enemy types such as Giant Spores, Boroks, and Scaylions. Upon arriving there an intro video will play with Sir Hammerlock inviting you to a nice hunting trip in a beautiful setting filled with new creatures, unique bosses, and a raid boss, plus a lil something something as well…, if you can find it.
